Treaver K. Hodson, Esq. will give a one-hour presentation regarding changes in California law that occurred in 2018 in the areas of hiring, wage and hour law, arbitration, leaves of absence, harassment, discrimination, immigration, labor unions and others. This will include discussion of the groundbreaking Dynamex Operations W. v. Superior Court decision, in which the Supreme Court of California drastically changed the requirements necessary to classify a worker as an independent contractor. It will also include discussion of extensive legislation passed governing sexual harassment in the workplace, the extent of employer liability for sexual harassment, and limitations on employer settlements of sexual harassment claims. Many other changes in California law will be addressed that are important for employers to be aware of to stay in compliance.
